Recent bits and upcoming things
Hello, how are you?
On the 2nd of October I took part in the Midlands Improv Maestro, always a fun night sharing the stage with very talented performers. It’s been a real treat to get involved with the Birmingham improv comedy scene over last couple of years, it’s a vibrant and supportive community.
The next night Improv Wolves played a show in Shifnal supporting Crisis UK, thanks to everyone who came along and thanks to Zoe Turner for organising the event and all the wonderful fundraising work you do.
Next week I’m off to Edinburgh to take part in Remix Festival, a weekend of workshops and shows about musical improv. Teachers include such legends as Josie Lawrence, Pippa Evans and Chris Grace. I’m excited and just a little bit nervous…

Things to share
I’ve been enjoying Walking The Ground, a youtube series from Al Murray and James Holland where they, erm, walk the ground of Second World War battlefields. James was a guest on my podcast, Mike Beddoes who is the producer of the series. I’d still like it if that wasn’t the case, honest.
James and Al have been discussing Operation Market Garden and the battle of Arnhem recently. By coincidence I’ve been listening to the audio book of Adventures in the Screen Trade by William Goldman, the legendary screenwriter who wrote A Bridge Too Far, the iconic film which tells the story (or as he points out tells a few of the very many stories) of Market Garden. I’m loving this book, lots of great stuff about writing and creativity and many funny stories about the industry and various huge stars.
